Grace’s Story
That’s what Grace*—the youngest of four siblings—cried out to God when she begged Him to make a way for her to keep studying. Her father had passed away, and her mother, with no skills or income, struggled to provide for the family. One day, her mother told her, “You’ll have to stop going to school.”
Grace’s heart sank. Her only dream was to study—to become someone. In her community, that meant at least finishing level 9. Determined not to give up, she went into her room and, though she didn’t yet know God, poured out her heart to Him for help.
The very next day, a relative came to take Grace’s sister to God’s Dream Home, where she could receive care and continue her education. Not wanting to be separated from her sister, Grace asked to go too—never realizing that this would be the answer to her prayer.
At God’s Dream Home, Grace was able to return to school. Today, she’s pursuing her master’s degree in sociology while working at a coffee shop. Her dream? To open her own cafe in her village and provide for her mother and family.

During my time in Shillong, Northeast India, with Ken and Lauren, I saw firsthand how deeply education changes lives. We spent time teaching, connecting with the children, and showing them the love and care they deserve. Although POGI has long sponsored their schooling, seeing in person how life-changing that opportunity is was incredibly moving.
