Four years ago, Muriel Gonzales moved from the Philippines to Surrey, Canada, with big dreams and a desire to build a new life.

My second weekend in the Philippines was spent with leaders from different provinces (Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Bicol) who came to Manila for a conference and the People of Grace anniversary celebration.

I spent most of my second week in the Philippines at the People of Grace school and community center in Kamuning, Quezon City.

On my first weekend in the Philippines, we drove to Pangasinan, making a stop in Pampanga. Due to the nonstop rains, both of these provinces had  flooded areas. On some streets we drove through, we feared getting stuck in the water, but thankfully, we  didn’t, and most of the roads were passable.  In Pangasinan, we spent time with two communities teaching youth and children in Mangaldan, and teaching adults in Dagupan, where relief goods were also handed out to those in need.

Next weekend, I’ll be heading to the Philippines for field outreach. I’ll be visiting two of our partners in Pangasinan.
