Rain or Shine, Love Shows Up!

People of Grace high school students, Quezon City. Philippines

My second weekend in the Philippines was spent with leaders from different provinces (Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Bicol) who came to Manila for a conference and the People of Grace anniversary celebration. Sadly, due to relentless rain and flooding, some of them were stranded because of flooding in their home areas.

On Saturday, the rain was constant, but we pushed through with our kids’ outreach in San Vicente, Quezon City. About 55 kids braved the weather and came to the basketball court, where we taught them, sang with them, played games, and shared a meal and some school supplies.

I was so impressed by how engaged they were during my storytelling. I loved watching them enjoy their food, come and go with their umbrellas, and, most of all, I was delighted to hear them express gratitude.

Kids enjoying a rainy afternoon on a covered basketball court is a reminder that showing up consistently matters. It gives them something to look forward to—and creates more meaningful days for them.
